70’s inspired looks

One of my favorite fashion eras, the 70s look… This season the 70’s inspired looks include suede (yeah, for spring!), flower power abstract prints, vintage cut denim, and boho flowing draped dresses.

Graphic Stripes

Vivid colors, diagonal lines, criss crossed, and every other direction you can think of are leading the way to style. Stripes are most definitely a staple print and this is the season we will be shown why.

Lace

The spring femininity of florals has been replaced with lace this season. Pastels may be a more common occurrence but all colors are welcome!

Tie-Dyed fabrics

Piggy backing off the 70’s inspired look, tie-dye is shifting from the attic to the “must wear now rack” in your closet.

Lightweight Denim

Chambray and lightweight denim are making a statement this spring. It can be worn alone or paired with any of your favorite wardrobe pieces. There are no wrongs here!

Exposed Shoulders

This 90’s comeback of exposed shoulders happens to be one of the hottest trends. Halter necklines with drop sleeves, cutout shoulders, and total off the shoulder looks will be making a showcase this season.

The Top 2015 Fall Fashion Trends

The season is here! Layers, boots, jackets and new trends will hit the streets. Let’s cover a few trends you may want to try this season.

The Flounced Hem

Add a bit of femininity to your looks with a flounced hem. We have seen it with the peplum tops and dresses but this season, it will be all about the hem on dresses and skirts.

Car Wash Pleats

The car wash pleat is a variation of fringe that looks good on just about anyone. Large separated pleats that dangle over your legs will add a bit of glamour and femininity to your look.

Ponchos & Capes

Whether western style or modern chic, ponchos and capes will be the “it girl” warm up for this fall/winter.

Victorian Inspired Styles

The look of the 19th century has emerged once again. Modest, feminine and romantic fashion including ruffles, lace, bows and concealed necks in loose draping with eye-catching patterns and cuts.

Floral Prints

Perhaps the most feminine pattern in fashion, floral prints will still be on trend this fall. Instead of pastel and light tone backgrounds, winter floral will be contrasted with black and dark tones.

Summer Weekend Getaway Looks

Taking a weekend getaway is a great way to refresh while enjoying a different scenery. It’s also a good reason to buy new clothes (as if a reason for shopping is really needed).  Last week, I was preparing to travel out of town and choose to have Guide2Style assist with my looks.  The day’s agenda included casual dress attire along with an evening party look. I also wanted to do some shopping so I needed my looks to budget friendly. Based on my body shape, skin tone, events and budget for each piece, here’s what Guide2Style suggested I wear:

A Lightweight Peach Shirt Dress

Not only was this lightweight shirt dress is great for my casual dressy look, it was under $75! I chose to pair the natural hue with a dark tone blue to add some contrast. I really like the cut of the dress because it’s flattering on just about any body type. If your body shape is boxy, add a dark tone belt to enhance your waistline.

Peplum Top and Cropped Satin Pants

For my evening look, this pair of chic satin cropped pants paired with the tiger head printed peplum top has just enough edge for a party. A peplum top with slim pants conceals hips along with adding a waistline.

How to Wear This Season’s Most Popular Trends

It’s officially the turn of the fashion season and like any other Style Expert or fashionista, I am excited to share ways to wear a few of the popular trendy styles of Spring 2015.

Floral Print

“Florals? For spring? Ground breaking.” – Miranda Priestly

Yes, we all know that a popular and well appropriate print for spring is floral. Instead of rocking this print all over on a dress, try it on one piece with a white or light toned solid color top, like this Roksanda Ilincic skirt below. Accessorize the look with contrasting colors to bring it all together.

Black and White

Another popular classic is black and white combinations. Each year there is a fashion industry dictated season that will label this look as trendy. Whether on trend or not, having a black and white ensemble in your wardrobe is essential. This featured look is intended for a semi-formal night out. This flame design Marc by Marc Jacobs dress pairs well with geometric accessories.

Gingham Print

Inspired by the 1950’s, the checked gingham print has made a comeback. This print is such an appropriate pattern for Spring/Summer, reminding us all of a picnic in the park. I recommend this pastel tone silk and cotton blend gingham printed dress by Marc by Marc Jacobs due to it’s effortless feminine style….just perfect for a day at the park!

Shirt Dresses

Popular among the chic street style city dwellers, the shirt dress is another effortless look that is trending this season.  The oversize button down shirt will add a bit of style to your casual looks as you run errands or meet with friends for lunch.  This plaid silk shirt dress by McQ Alexander McQueen easily blends western style with urban flair.
